Why We Soft Wash Houses Instead of Pressure Washing Them
High pressure is the wrong tool for siding. It can strip paint, etch soft wood, crack stucco, and drive water behind vinyl and fiber cement where it turns into mold you cannot see. It also leaves the algae's roots in place, so the green comes back within months.
A soft wash uses about the pressure of a garden hose and a cleaning solution that kills mildew and algae at the root. The house comes clean, the finish stays intact, and the clean lasts noticeably longer. Every Siding Type Around Charleston
Vinyl siding
The most common siding in newer neighborhoods, and the one that shows green algae streaks fastest, especially on the shaded side. Soft washing lifts the growth out of the texture without warping panels or pushing water into the seams.
Fiber cement (Hardie board)
Fiber cement is tough, but its factory paint is not. High pressure dulls and chips it. We clean it at low pressure with a solution that leaves the finish intact.
Stucco
Stucco is porous. It holds dirt and growth deep in its surface and absorbs water if it is blasted, which leads to cracks. Soft washing cleans it without soaking it.
Brick
